PATIENT INFORMATION LEAFLET (PIL) KATINKO® SOFT WHITE OINTMENT
Methyl salicylate + Menthol + Eucalyptus oil + Camphor 80 mg/75 mg/31 mg/26 mg per gram (KATINKO® SOFT WHITE) Ointment is a soft white ointment packed in a polypropylene plastic jar.
WHAT IS IN KATINKO® SOFT WHITE OINTMENT?
KATINKO® Soft White Ointment contains Methyl Salicylate, Menthol, Eucalyptus oil and Camphor.
METHYL SALICYLATE is a counterirritant that is used to produce surface irritation of the skin, thereby counteracting underlying pain or discomfort. It causes reddening of the skin due to increased blood flow and it relieves pain in various muscles and skeletal pain.
MENTHOL is a crystalline compound with a cooling and minty odor that is used for pain relief (analgesia) for minor muscle and joint pain.
EUCALYPTUS OIL is an essential oil that is used as a medicine to treat a variety of common diseases and conditions including nasal congestion and asthma. Diluted eucalyptus oil may be applied to the skin as a remedy for health problems such as arthritis and skin ulcers.
CAMPHOR is a topical pain reliever that is used to treat skin conditions like itching and irritations and it improves respiratory function and inflammatory conditions.
Another ingredient is White Petroleum jelly.
STRENGTH OF KATINKO® SOFT WHITE OINTMENT
WHAT IS KATINKO® SOFT WHITE OINTMENT USED FOR?
KATINKO® Soft White Ointment is used to help relieve minor body pains and itch, muscle strain, neck and shoulder stiffness, back pain, sprain, rheumatism, headache, colds, seasickness, lumbago (pain in the muscles and joints of the lower back), bruises, flatulence (passing gas from the digestive system out of the back passage or farting), insect bites, and skin itch. Use this medication on the skin only.
HOW MUCH AND HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU USE KATINKO® SOFT WHITE OINTMENT?
Apply generously to the affected area as often as required or repeat the application 3 to 4 times daily until relieved. Use this medication as directed by your doctor or follow all directions on the product package. If you have any questions, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
WHEN SHOULD YOU NOT USE KATINKO® SOFT WHITE OINTMENT?
Allergic to the active ingredients or any other ingredient of KATINKO® Soft White.
Children 2 years of age and below
Pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers

CARE THAT SHOULD BE TAKEN WHEN USING KATINKO® SOFT WHITE OINTMENT
Wash your hands after application to avoid contact with your eyes, nose, mouth, and other body parts.
UNDESIRABLE EFFECTS OF THIS MEDICINE
KATINKO® Soft White Ointment is generally safe to use within the recommended dose and duration of treatment. Mild itching or stinging sensation at the site of application may occur. Tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly if any of these effects last or get worse.
WHAT OTHER MEDICINE OR FOOD SHOULD BE AVOIDED WHILE USING KATINKO® SOFT WHITE OINTMENT?
No listed drug interactions with other drugs.
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF OVERDOSE
Severe redness of the skin
Severe burning sensation
Skin irritation or rashes.
WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU HAVE APPLIED MORE THAN THE RECOMMENDED DOSAGE?
Consult a doctor if needed.
HOW SHOULD YOU KEEP KATINKO® SOFT WHITE OINTMENT?
Keep out of reach of children. Keep KATINKO® Soft White in a dry, well-ventilated area at temperatures not exceeding 30°C.
WHEN SHOULD YOU CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR?
If there is an excessive irritation or if there is redness on the skin for more than a week.
